Tri-County Head Start provides children and families with a variety of education services through Center Based and Home Based options. The Center Based program has 3.5 hour and 6 hour sessions in select locations. The Home Based program has weekly one and one-half hour visits and twice monthly socialization experiences at a center location.
Tri-County Head Start provides children with experiences that prepare them for future success in Kindergarten.
Tri-County Head Start uses the Creative Curriculum, with other curricula added to support school readiness skills. Zoo-phonics is used to teach children letter sounds and names. Zoo-phonics gives each letter an animal name, sound and motion to address all styles of learning. Conscious Discipline is an approach to positive classroom guidance that includes social-emotional learning for children. Hands on Standards is a manipulative based math curriculum to help children learn basic mathematical concepts. Tri-County Head Start participates in the I am Moving I am Learning movement that encourages families and staff to incorporate movement and nutrition into everyday experiences in an effort to address childhood obesity.
