Safe Place

We do not use time out in our classrooms.  Instead, we have an area called the Safe Place.  The Safe Place is a place where students can safely self-regulate and gain or maintain composure.  The goal of the safe place is to provide students with a place in their classroom that they can go when they are angry, sad, frustrated, anxious, etc.  There will be tools they need to help them identify their emotions and gain control and composure.

The Safe Place is about giving children the opportunity to self-regulate, NOT punishment or consequences.
