August 8, 2018
(Paw Paw, MI) The Board of Tri-County Head Start is pleased to welcome Chanda Hillman as our new Executive Director. Chanda began her Head Start journey four years ago when her son became a Tri-County Head Start student. She was then voted onto the Policy Council, where she became the Policy Council Chair. In February of 2016, Chanda resigned from her role on the Policy Council to become a part-time Recruiter with the organization. From that position she was promoted to Recruiting Manager, then ERSEA Manager, and finally to Family Services Administrator.
“Tri-County Head Start is not just a preschool and not just for children, it offers the opportunity for children to start Kindergarten with valuable classroom experience that supports them socially, emotionally, and educationally. Tri-County Head Start also provides comprehensive services to the entire family that can put them on the path to their dreams. That is what Tri-County Head Start did for me and my family,” Hillman said. Tri-County Head Start serves pregnant women and children from birth to age five in both Home-Based and Center-Based programs throughout Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren counties.
Chanda comes to the role with fifteen years of leadership experience. She has a Masters degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Gender and Women Studies and Nonprofit Leadership, all from Western Michigan University. Her strategic vision and focus on organizational culture, and building and nurturing collaborative relationships in the community, will facilitate this organizations continued growth and impact on the families and communities in Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren Counties.
“I am deeply honored and excited about this opportunity. I am looking forward to building on the strengths and power of our Tri-County Head Start team to lead this organization into the future.” - Chanda Hillman
