EHS programs enhance children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development; assist pregnant women to access comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care and support parents.

Tri-County Early Head Start provides children and families with a variety of education services through Center Based and Home Based options. There are Center Based options in Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren Counties. The Home Based option is available in all 3 counties as well, with weekly one and one-half hour visits and twice monthly socialization experiences at a center location to help you and your child practice classroom skills.

Education Services

Tri-County Early Head Start provides children with experiences that prepare them for future success in Head Start. The curriculum focuses on eleven domains of learning — physical health and development, social and emotional development, approaches to learning, language, literacy, mathematics, science, creative arts expression, logic and reasoning, social studies, and English language development.

Tri-County Early Head Start uses high-quality, research and evidence-based curriculum. Zoo-phonics is used to teach children letter sounds and names. Zoo-phonics gives each letter an animal name, sound and motion to address all styles of learning. Conscious Discipline is an approach to positive classroom guidance that includes social-emotional learning for children.

Early Head Start Center Based Option

There are centers located in Bangor, Cassopolis, Benton Harbor, Watervliet and New Buffalo. All Centers are year-round and offer a full day session. School Hours: 8-4:30 PM Monday-Thursday.

Our Early Head Start Centers are designed to transition children to a Head Start Classroom as we are a 0-5 year program. We partner with families to ensure this transition is a positive experience.
